After more than a decade making jewelry packaging, the clearest change I've seen lately is this: stores no longer run on a single box for everything. The hero piece goes in a box; the accessories and gifts go in a pouch. Matched to the price — that has quietly become the default in most shops. Take our coffee-toned, gold-edged rounded-corner jewelry box. The shell is a plastic blank wrapped in coffee-color leather, with a thin gold trim around the edge. The lid can carry a gold-stamped or embossed logo, and the common size is 80 by 80 by 35 millimeters, adjustable to the brand. Inside is a velvet lining that fits rings, pendants, studs, bracelets and bangles alike. Minimum order starts at five hundred, and we take small custom runs too. The box is rigid enough, the rounded corners don't bite into the hand, and it survives hundreds of daily opens without the edges cracking — which is exactly why it suits the hero piece. When a customer turns it over in her hands to study the craft, the box itself has to hold up to the looking. We inspect the blanks first: any with burrs on the edge or a broken gold line gets rejected, because a box leaving the factory can't carry a flaw. When a client comes to the factory for sampling, we set the rounded box next to a square one and let him heft both — most pick the rounded one the moment they touch it; that hard edge of the square digs into the fingertip. Not mysticism; just the honest reaction of someone who opens boxes every day. Accessories and gifts don't need a box. A pair of spare earrings, a polishing cloth, a care card — those slip into a matching drawstring velvet pouch and that's enough. The pouch is lighter than the box and lies flat without eating space, so a stack of them lives in the counter drawer, grabbed as needed. When a customer buys the main piece and gets a small gift, you cinch the pouch and she's off — handier than wrapping a second box. Online clients and physical stores mix the ratio differently: online ships by courier, so the box gets a pouch outside to resist scuffing; in-store pickup just carries the pouch and leaves the box behind as a display sample. Years ago the fashion was full-coverage gold foil and a big logo. Bright, yes, but tiring to look at after a while. Now it's more often a quiet, blank face with just one small mark and a gold edge to finish it — and that reads as more refined. Rounded boxes beat square ones for popularity; soften the corners and they don't poke the hand, and they photograph softer too. When we shoot for e-commerce clients, the rounded box throws less glare, so lighting takes half the effort and the photographer is happy to use it. The ratio isn't a fixed rule either. For a high-value stone piece, the box gets an anti-tarnish card and the pouch is only for carrying it out. For volume pieces at low prices, it's box or pouch, one or the other, to save cost. When we plan a client's setup, we first ask what she sells and through which channel, then set the box-to-pouch ratio — never blindly piling on material. In the end, box and pouch don't replace each other; they each own a slice. The box carries "valuable" and "stable." The pouch carries "light" and "grab-and-go." Get those two layers straight, and the store's packaging cost drops while the customer's dignity stays intact. This is original content. Copyright belongs to Shengyixiang.
