The thickened microfiber drawstring jewelry pouch, ZBD1, is one of our steady sellers at Shengyixiang for small-batch custom orders. Its biggest difference from a thin velvet pouch comes down to one word: structure. The same pouch holding a ring or a bracelet — whether it stands up and closes cleanly tells the customer the grade at a glance. Microfiber is an ultra-fine fiber base cloth, and what makes the pouch work is "thickening" — a high base weight lets the body stand on its own on the counter instead of collapsing like a thin velvet bag that needs something inside to hold it up. The shape uses a square bottom with folded corners; once the bottom hem is opened it stands by itself, and the side seams are double-stitched for strength. Whether the shape is true depends entirely on how accurately the panels are cut and how neatly the corner hems are folded. The drawstring is the critical part. The channel the cord runs through must be sewn evenly, and both exit points need either eyelets or a knot — no raw edges. We usually use a matching woven cord or a thin satin ribbon. After pulling tight, the mouth should close evenly; one side loose and the other tight looks bad and will not seal. A lot of failures start with a crooked channel — sew it off-line and the cord jams halfway, and a hard yank from the customer distorts the whole opening. The cord length matters too: too long it dangles, too short it will not close; we size it to the bag height and leave margin for the knot, so the mouth closes with the lining hidden. The lining is a separate craft. Inside a microfiber pouch we normally sew in a layer of short-pile velvet. The outer microfiber handles the shape and the printed face; the inner velvet protects the jewelry so pieces go in without scratches or rubbing. The two layers have a clear division of labor, which is also why it costs a bit more than a single-layer bag — but the perceived quality jumps. Shape accuracy is checked one by one before shipping. If the panels are cut a millimeter off, the corners go crooked and the hems follow. We pull five percent for a stand-up test — the bottom must stand firm and the four corners must not collapse. For transport, microfiber fears pressure, not damp, so flat-stacked in a five-layer carton is enough; far easier than velvet, which mats the moment it gets humid. The printed face uses either gold stamping or embossing for the logo. The temperature is usually held at 120 to 140 degrees; embossing resists daily friction better and will not fade, while gold stamping looks more premium. Multiple colors are available and small batches can have a dedicated color, but you must watch the dye-lot number — two different lots will not match, and then the whole batch gets reworked. There is a trade-off to state plainly: if you want a printed logo, do not expect the microfiber pouch to feel as soft and floppy as velvet — it exists for structure. If you want the softest touch, go back to velvet. Want both? Outer microfiber with a thicker velvet lining, at the cost of one extra process and a little more money, which we can still handle on small orders. Do not judge a pouch only by how soft it feels. Want structure and shape? Go thickened microfiber. Want soft and skin-friendly? Velvet. Want a semi-transparent look? Organza. Each does its own job. This is original content.
